Due to declining participation and increased costs to the public purse, it has been agreed that the Dip Farm pitch and putt golf course in Lowestoft will close later this month.

Waveney District Council, who own the course, and Sentinel Leisure Trust who manage the facility have agreed that despite considerable investment in the site and marketing campaigns to attract participants, a steady decline in use has left the partners with no choice.

Citing contributory factors such as changes in the market - which have resulted in major golf clubs providing new opportunities at reduced cost - and the wide range of other nearby facilities, Waveney and Sentinel have decided that Dip Farm will cease operations at the end of December. Following closure, the site will be maintained, for now, as open space for public use and options for the future of the location will be considered.
